The Digital ORP Meter allows you to test you to determine the oxidizing or reducing potential of a sample of water. Within the meter there's an ORP electrode and a reference electrode. The ORP electrode either gives up electrons to an oxidant or accept electrons from a reductant or reducing agent. This chemical reaction will continue until the electrode develops a charge potential to give you the ORP of the solution. Typically used for aqua culture, hydroponics, testing the condition of waterways and more.

ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) measures the ability of a lake or body of water to cleanse itself or break down waste products like contaminants, dead plants and animals. When a ORP value is high, there's lots of oxygen present in the water.
